Special Events at the Heritage Center
Check this page often for information on upcoming Heritage Trail marker dedications or other special events. We appreciate your continued support for the Charles H. Coolidge Medal of Honor Heritage Center!
On August 5, 2016, the Charles H. Coolidge Medal of Honor Heritage Center attended Technical Sgt. Charles Coolidge's 95th birthday celebration at the Walker pavilion at Coolidge Park. Thanks to Mayor Berke, Mayor Coppinger, and Lt. General Charlie Coolidge for helping us wish Signal Mountain's own living World War II Medal of Honor recipient a happy birthday!
On March 23, 2016, Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger issued a proclamation identifying March 25, 2016 as "Medal of Honor Day." Since the Medal's inception and first issue on March 25, 1863, only 3,497 individuals have been awarded the Medal of Honor and only 78 recipients of the Medal are alive today. We were honored to be joined by Major General Bill Raines, Lt. General Charles Coolidge and John Coolidge, sons of Charles H. Coolidge, our local living WWII Medal of Honor Recipient from Signal Mountain. Please see the slideshow below for photos of this event.
The Medal of Honor Heritage Center recently participated in the Gold Star Patriot Tree Commemoration on December 21, 2015. Hosted by the City of Chattanooga and the Chief John Ross Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, we were proud to participate in this event to commemorate the service and sacrifices of our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Airmen who died in the Vietnam War.
