Get Published! The National Medal of Honor Museum of Military History is looking for articles written by students of all ages from elementary school to senior citizens. Need a subject? Choose your own subject or choose one of the following.
- Write a biography of a Medal of Honor recipient.
- Discuss racial prejudice in the armed forces during WW I and WW II and how it manifested itself in the awarding of the Medal of Honor.
- Discuss Mary Walker’s campaign to restore her Medal of Honor after the Purge of 1917.
- Discuss Theodore Roosevelt’s campaign to receive the Medal of Honor for his action during the Spanish-American War.
- Make the case that James J. Andrews, Perry Shadrack, William Campbell, and George Wilson should be awarded the Medal of Honor for their actions during the “Great Locomotive Chase.”
- Discuss how a Medal of Honor recipient affected your local community or the nation.
How to Submit an Article
The National Medal of Honor Museum hopes to explore a wide range of thought about the Medal of Honor and military history. The goal of this web page is to publish student articles that articulate thoughtful and authoritative analysis about the Medal of Honor and military history. We do insist on the following:
- No personal attacks, threats, or harassment of anyone, including the nation’s leaders, past or present.
- No profanity, racial or sexist language. It is possible to communicate effectively without profanity, racial or sexist language.
- The Museum staff will only post papers that give a voice to the past.
To submit an article for the website, email it to mohmuseum@yahoo.com. All articles should include a bibliography along with the author’s name and age/grade. Submission of an article to the museum constitutes permission to publish on our website unless otherwise stated in the submittal.
